What drives the Cost of Stamped Metal Parts?
- Size of the part and thus material usage and tooling size. (we use dedicated software to minimize scrap)
- Material type. For example carbon steel versus stainless steel.
- Order quantity a larger quantity allow for lower price per part.
- Complexity, the amount of features and their difficulty associated with the method which creates them. For example tapped extrusions close to an edge.
- Tolerances associated with critical dimensions. See our blog post about typical tolerances for stamped parts.
- Additional processes other than stamping for example plating and or deburring.
- Cleanliness requirements.
- Packaging and shipping methods bulk shipping versus tray packaging
for example.
